Malicious Wounding on Florida Avenue
LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) is investigating a malicious wounding that is reported to have occurred in the 1500-block of Florida Avenue, today.
On November 17, 2022, at 12:59 p.m., officers initially responded to 800 Greenfield Drive for a report of malicious wounding. When officers arrived on scene, they located one adult male with a gun-shot wound to the back.
The initial investigation indicates the adult male victim was walking in the parking lot of the Greenfield Market toward Greenfield Dr. when he was shot. The male then fled to 800 Greenfield Dr., where officers located him.
Officers on scene located multiple cartridge casings on Pinehurst Street believed to be related to this incident.
A large, dark colored SUV occupied by 2 males was seen fleeing the area at a high rate of speed on Florida Ave, in the direction of Campbell Ave. It is unconfirmed at this time if the vehicle was involved.
LPD Forensic and Criminal Investigation Units responded to the scene to further investigate this incident.
The adult male victim, located on Greenfield Drive, was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment of injury.
No arrests have been made at this time.
