Child’s Death Ruled Homicide on Grace Street

 

 

LYNCHBURG, Va – On May 19, 2024, Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) officers responded to the Lynchburg General Hospital Emergency Department in reference to the death of a 4-month-old infant. The initial investigation revealed that the child had passed away in a residence in the 1700 block of Grace Street.

 

In the wake of this tragic event, detectives interviewed both parents of the child as part of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the infant’s death. The case took a further devastating turn on May 21, 2024, when the child’s father died by suicide in the Clay Street parking deck, located in the 800 block of Clay Street.

 

Subsequent investigations and autopsy results recently received indicated that the child was the victim of a homicide. The child’s father was the only suspect, and LPD is not looking for any others at this time.
